When I was 12-13 years old…
I’d always watch my older sister. As she took the role of mom and dad when I was really young… I was always paying close attention. As she drove me around.. The way she talked to people.. The way she presented herself. Powerfully but never rudely. And from observing her I noticed that… At least once a week when we’d go to Starbucks… She would always pay for the person behind her in line or the drive-thru. And she still does til this day.
So when I got a good job 3 years ago… I picked up that pay it forward habbit. So now… I pay for the person behind me in line or the drive thru.. or if I miss a week or 2… I pay for the entire line. Also my best friend and I hand out Starbucks loaded giftcards to strangers in front of Starbucks.
So this evening I pulled up to the Starbucks drive-thru. Prepared to pay for my drink and the person behind me.. And the worker said “The lady in front of you already payed for you!”… I was so surprised. In all the years that my sister and I have been doing this.. We’ve never seen another doing this as well. I think it’s proof.. That although we are a small wave of people.. We are creating a wave of change with genuine random acts of kindness. Cheers!
